Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
This policy explains what Builder Town (buildertown.app) collects, why, and how you can delete it. We collect as little as we can.
1. What we collect
- From X, when you sign in: your X account ID, username, display name, profile photo URL, account creation date and public follower / post counts. We use the creation date and counts only to tell real accounts from bots. We ask X for read-only access and we never post on your behalf. We don’t keep your X access token after sign-in.
- What you enter: your character and desk choices, profession, project name, product links, what you are working on, and the posts you pin to the Ship Board.
- Activity in the town: your focus time, streak and level, cheers and reactions, and your live status while you are in town (working, on a break, walking).
- Counts for makers: how many times a profile was viewed and how many times product links were clicked, per day. Owners of Maker Insights can see these numbers and the X handles of people who cheered their ships.
- Purchases: what you bought and when. Payment details (card, billing address, email) are handled by Polar, our payment provider and Merchant of Record — we don’t see or store your card.
- Technical data: a random device ID and a sign-in token stored in your browser’s local storage, used to keep you signed in and to count how many real people are online. Our hosting provider processes IP addresses to deliver the site and stop abuse.
We don’t use advertising trackers, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
2. What other people see
Builder Town is a shared space. Your character, name, @handle, X profile photo, project and product links, level and badges, live status and Ship Board posts are visible to everyone who visits the town.
3. Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare — hosting and the database that runs the town.
- X (Twitter) — sign-in.
- Polar — payments, taxes and receipts (Polar privacy policy).
4. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists, and delete it when you delete your account. Records of purchases may be kept longer where the law requires it.
5. Your choices and rights
- Delete everything: “Me” → “Delete my account” removes your profile, desk, posts, purchases, stats and invites right away.
- You can edit your character, project and links at any time in “Me”.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or KVKK) you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to processing. Email us and we’ll help.
6. Children
Builder Town is not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we’ll show a notice in the town.
